  • An important note is that ERI were specifically invited by the Indonesian Government to Tanjung Ringgit to “save the environmental integrity of Sekaroh Forest area” and provide work and education/training opportunities for the local community, which is one of the most socially, climate and economically vulnerable in Indonesia (CSIRO report 2010).

What Eco Regions brings to the table
  • Most of the Eco Regions development falls in Forestry land, with a small percentage privately held by their corporation
  • As 67% of Indonesia’s land mass are Forestry areas believe it would be extremely difficult to locate similar large scale, private land holdings, especially close to main transport hubs.
  • Utilization Rights The length of tenure is generally longer (between 35-90 years renewable).
  • Renewal costs are regulated by the government and not expensive.
  • In forestry areas there is no requirement for a separate building permit for every accommodation. The general building plan is made every 10 years and a more detailed plan is made for all developments every year. This makes it easier to handle large-scale developments. It also removes the risk of local government involvement and delays.
